Damn Straight I'm Staying in Shenzhen!!!I'm in Nanshan, Shenzhen. I finish work after 10 PM every day. Yep, working for one of those 'shoot for the moon' tech companies, probably feels like I'm the only one there at night. I get back to my rental, blink, and it's time to grind again. Just another highly educated cog in the machine.

️ Suzhou, which exudes a gentle aura of a traditional water town in Jiangnan, is perfectly suitable for families with kids. Below is a comprehensive itinerary for a 3-day family trip to Suzhou:
Day One: Introduction to Gardens and Historical Streets
* Hanshan Temple (寒山寺):
* The famous Chinese poem, "Night Half Bell Sounds to the Guest Boat beyond Gusu City" - many Chinese know this! It is suggested to reach early and enjoy the bells' sound, feeling the serenity and solemnity preserved in the ancient temple.
* Children can learn a little about Buddhist culture here, and taste the "auspicious noodle" served by the vegetarian restaurant in this temple.
* Humble Administrator’s Garden (拙政园):
* Famous as one of China's top four classical gardens! It features beautiful scenery with each step, making it hard to stop taking photos.
*️ Pay attention!
* Must buy tickets online in advance; otherwise, you have to queue in line forever!
* Do not forget mosquito repellent if you come in summer; the mosquitoes near waterside are plentiful.
* Children will certainly love the lotus pond and "Thirty-six Swans Pavilion" (a water structure) with lots of swans.
* Pingjiang Road (平江路):
* This road possesses typical Jiangnan characteristics, cobbled stone streets, flowing water, and old houses surrounding the area.
* Kids can take a leisurely stroll in a slowly rowing wooden boat and listen to special Suzhou storytelling '评弹' – an art form involving stories told alongside singing.Day Two: Further Exploration of Ancient Temples & Gardens
* Suzhou Museum (苏州博物馆):
* Designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei late in his career, the museum itself is an artwork in its essence!
* Kids can gain insight into the cultural background of this land, known as "Wu" in ancient times, and feed the Koi fish in a 'secret garden'.
* Lion Grove Garden (狮子林):
* The peculiarity of this garden lies in bizarre rock formations arranged like lions.
* With these rock formations acting as a labyrinth, children could have so much fun moving through them.
* Tiger Hill (虎丘):
* An ancient literary giant, Su Dongpo, said it was, "the first scenic spot in Wu Region" (Wu region's best attraction).
* Kids could see the somewhat tilted 'Yunyan Pagoda' (China’s 'Leaning Tower of Pisa') and mysterious 'Sword Pond'. They could listen to stories about Tiger Hill’s historical tales too.Day Three: Countryside Towns & Modern Cities
* Tongli Ancient Town (同里古镇):
* Another typical Jiangnan water town featuring small bridges, flowing waters, and residences.
* You can taste local specialties like "Socks Bottom Snacks" (an oddly named but delicious biscuit), 'Distinguished Scholar’s Pork Feet' and explore some famous old dwellings such as Tui Si Yuan.
* Jinji Lake (金鸡湖):
* This represents modern Suzhou with its towering buildings. It is impressive!
* Take a walk along the lake at dusk, where beautiful views of nighttime city are especially breathtaking. Kids could have a photo taken with 'The Gate of the East' (a famous construction resembling 'long johns').
* Suzhou Amusement Land – Forest World (formerly known as 'Suzhou Dreamworld'):
* A paradise for kids if they love thrilling attractions!
* With various thrill-rides, carousel, and milder rides suitable for younger children, kids would play their hearts out here. -
Suzhou 'Enlightened' Me: Steer Clear of the Touring Acrobat Scam!I'm shocked too. Can't believe this kind of thing still happens in Suzhou. Is it even legal? A while back, they were doing this right by our neighborhood. My kid heard 'performance' and insisted on seeing the snake, but they spent two solid hours just hawking their wares. In the end, they just quickly flashed the snake around for a moment.
-
This is NOT a Tourist Attraction! Seriously, Just DON'T!!!Regarding the one-yuan entrance fee, an old monk mentioned in an interview that it's purely for statistical purposes – to count the number of visitors. There's no commercial intent behind it.
