Taichung: Escape Before It's Too Late! 2

Taichung: Escape Before It's Too Late! 1

Alright, no problem! Let me help you share this experience in a more relatable and understandable way for foreign friends!

I want to share with everyone about my trip to central Taiwan and some of the spots I visited:

    • Sun Moon Lake:

      • Honestly, Sun Moon Lake was smaller than I had imagined, which left me slightly disappointed.
      • Plus, my sprained ankle made it even harder for me to explore, so I mostly stayed on the boat browsing through my phone.
        • Small background info: Sun Moon Lake is a famous high-altitude lake in Taiwan, attracting many tourists who pick cruising around it as part of their plans.
      • The boat tour makes one stop at a dock where the guide suggested we give this snack named chicken wing rice package a try.
        • What's that? The snack resembles chicken wings without bones stuffed inside with cooked rice, making it an innovative street snack.
        • I gave it a try and my honest feedback on this snack was kind of meh. It felt too dry and wasn't as appetizing as expected.
      • Along with that, they served us the candied guava.
        • What's that? Guavas, a tropical fruit, are often cut into pieces by Taiwanese locals and then topped with candied floss or plum powder to create a unique sweet-sour flavor.
        • Although tasty and intriguing, I found its price to be a bit high for just an okay-liked taste.
    • Cingjing Farm:

      • Next up, I visited Cingjing Farm, a farm in the high mountains famous for sheep ranching and picturesque scenery. However,... I couldn't help but find it tedious!
      • ⚠️ Travel tip / A little bit regret series:
        • I was quite regretful about getting the combined ticket (Sun Moon Lake & Cingjing Farm bundled ticket).
        • How to avoid? Whenever you show less enthusiasm towards a particular place, or like me, just being on a more flexible travel plan, purchasing a separate ticket might be a smarter choice; at least it gives you more liberty to see what fits best with your schedule.
      • There were opportunities to feed sheep, but given my leg injury, it would take me some time to walk up a small hill, which honestly wasn't a very pleasant experience.
      • Furthermore, the sheep we had at the farm sure enjoyed their meal too. Grass by then was already all eaten up, resulting in somewhat barren scenery. That was not what I envisioned before seeing it with my own eyes.
    • Good news is!

      • To my relief, my swollen ankle felt considerably better by early afternoon, much less painful.
      • Hoping to recover fully before reaching Kenting, so I could make the best of it!
        • Small background info: Kenting, located at southern Taiwan, is a popular destination renowned for its sunshine, beaches, and national parks where people often go to spend their vacation.

It's quite large, and there are a lot of sheep, but there isn't much scenery, so it's hard to get good photos.

Hi, is Sun Moon Lake usually crowded? I'm planning to take a bus there from Taichung and I'm wondering if the queues will be long.

I went with a tour group, so I didn't take the bus.
