Lost at West Lake? This Is Your Sign!
-
Alright, listen up, friends! If you want to see the true beauty of West Lake, the real highlights are right over here rather than in those crowded tourist spots such as Lubin (Lakefront), or the famous Su Di and Bai Di (Two causeways).
(Note for international friends: Lubin (Lakefront) is the area directly adjacent to Hangzhou city center, with the presence of more commercial establishments, while Su Di and Bai Di are two renowned causeways stretching across West Lake. The views are classic but tend to get crowded.)
If you limit your journey only to these popular spots and return disappointedly saying, "Oh, it's just another lake, nothing special," well then, I'd really feel like I need to stand up for West Lake too!
Trust me, if you follow this route I've recommended, you'll be amazed by its enchanting charm and exclaim, "Wow, this is where West Lake truly displays its ethereal beauty!"
-
It's a bit unnerving how, right after I decided on this route, posts about it started popping up everywhere.
-
Typically, when Xiaohongshu (XHS) starts heavily promoting travel guides for a place, it's a sure sign that spot is packed with people.
-
Hey, what do you think of this part of the route?
-
The highlights!
-
This route looks good, right? Planning to go on the 1st.
-
Walking the entire way would be unbearable.
-
Excuse me, roughly how long does it take to complete this route? We're planning to visit Lingyin Temple in the morning and West Lake in the afternoon.
-
In that case, you're looking at at least 30,000 steps. Half a day should be roughly enough time to cover it.
-
If I only have the morning, where should I get a taxi to? I'm planning to set out at 5 AM.
-
Maybe just take a stroll around the Hubin (Lakeside) area.
-
Any accommodation recommendations around here?
-
Qingzhiwu, Manjuelong... guesthouses (B&Bs) are everywhere in those areas.
-
Excuse me, where exactly is this? Thanks!
-
Haha, what a coincidence! I took this exact route today. Started at 6:00 AM and I'm at Leifeng Pagoda now. The whole journey has been so refreshing and uplifting.
-
So jealous!
-
Take a taxi to Yu Qian Shrine, then stroll along the river by Wugui Pond towards Yuhu Bay. It's the perfect condensed, refreshing nature tour, very pleasant and even suitable for seniors.
-
Good to know!
-
Do you recommend walking from north to south? I'm staying near the East Railway Station, and starting from Taiziwan (Prince Bay Park) is a bit far. (Also, any suggestions on how to get there from the East Station? It might be too early for the subway. Can I cycle to Beishan Street?)
-
Take a taxi to the Children's Palace, or take the subway to Fengqi Road Station.
