Shenzhen Happy Valley: Fresh Disaster Report! (It's a MEGA Trap!)
-
Alright, no problem! I’ll give you a heads up on Happy Valley in Shenzhen, both pros and cons, ensuring non-native Chinese speakers will also find it understandable!
Title: Back from Happy Valley in Shenzhen, Some Heartfelt Advice Can't Be Kept Inside!
Hey everyone! I spent the whole day at Happy Valley and overall, it’s quite fun. The night-time lighting is also very impressive. However, there are a few experiences and tips that I'd like to share with all who plan to visit, particularly foreign friends, so that they could avoid some common pitfalls!
-
Regarding Raincoats, Don’t Buy Them at the Subway Exit!
- Upon leaving the subway station, you may encounter many aunts (elderly ladies) selling raincoats. They’ll claim, “My raincoats are much cheaper than those inside the park!”
- Let me tell you, don’t buy them!
- First of all, quality is really poor.
- Second, it seems cheap as they only cost 5 yuan each due to not including shoe covers (for waterproof protection). While the park sells at 10 yuan per set, it offers better quality and full-body coverage.
- I fell into this trap myself when playing "Golden Wave Rafting"—a water ride where you sit on circular boats that float with the current. I ended up drenched on my lower half, like a chicken fallen into the water!
️ Warning: This Golden Wave Rafting ride soaks you from head to toe effortlessly; unless you wrap yourself thoroughly with raincoats or rethink the idea of taking this trip.

Think Twice Before Riding the "Ring Wing Flyer" Roller Coaster
- This roller coaster is seriously thrilling, with its inversion feature that feels like being flipped upside down.
- I was left dizzy as a whirlwind after one ride, making me slightly uncomfortable.
- During the ride, I thought about all the sad things in life as if they were no reason at all to undergo such a grueling test (though yes, it may simply be because I have a lower tolerance for thrill).
️ Warning: To those less inclined towards adventurous rides, or easily susceptible to motion sickness, you need to carefully consider before trying this attraction.
-
Absolutely Avoid "Snowy Camp"!
- It’s a place with indoor ice sculptors and snow activities. It sounds quite interesting, right?
- Incorrect! At a closer look, I felt it’s very unprofitable.
- An adult ticket costs 25 yuan per person.
- Upon entry, we found the facilities sparse, the premises small, and unbearably cold, labeled at minus 5 degrees Celsius.
- With bare hands touching snow would be impossible; frostbite will freeze your fingers in moments, making play virtually impossible.
- Apart from that mini ice slide, there isn't much more to enjoy inside.
️ Warning: The price-to-feature ratio here doesn’t make spending worth it, strongly advised against considering this spot.
I hope these small tips and suggestions will truly help you enjoy yourselves. After all, making your playtimes memorable is what really matters!

When I went before, they said we couldn't use our own raincoats... I wonder if it was because I was a kid back then and easier to fool.
-
Actually, you can! Really. Just make sure to get a good quality one in advance, and don't forget shoe covers.
-
Is there a haunted house now? If so, is it any good? I'm thinking of going specifically for the haunted house during Chinese New Year.
-
I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat; I was even frightened at some 'Dragon Cave' attraction. Anyway, that 'Ghost School' is closed.
-
Excuse me, are there any lockers inside?
-
Yes, there are. You'll find them to the right of the ticket check at the entrance.
-
Excuse me, are many of the attractions closed recently? I was thinking of going in the next few days.
-
It's alright. When I went, quite a few attractions were still open.
-
The Winged Coaster was just okay for me; I didn't really feel anything when I rode it.
-
It's really just me being a wimp.
-
Are there still many NPCs around? Are there any street parades? Is the Misty Forest still open?
-
There weren't many when I went, and there seemed to be very few parades too. But there might be more during the holidays. You can check their mini-program for that.
-
Just wondering, is it very crowded? Do you have to wait in long lines?
-
It wasn't too crowded a few days ago, but it'll probably get busier once the holidays start.
-
It's called Gold Mine Rafting, and you'll definitely get wet on it. You can bring your own raincoat now; it's more cost-effective to buy one online yourself.
-
'Raging Tides' (Jin Tao Hai Lang) and 'Gold Mine Rafting' are two different attractions.
-
Is 'Snowy Eagle' (Xue Yu Xiong Ying) still open?
-
There was an accident, so it's unlikely to ever open again.
-
I didn't dare to ride the Winged Coaster either. I was screaming my head off on it, and everyone else in the car was laughing at me.
