When I'd already walked 30,000 steps and then saw that staircase coming out of the subway, I instantly regretted my trip to Beijing.

That's brutal! Thank goodness I didn't have a suitcase with me.

I lost count of how many staircases like that I lugged my suitcase up.

Beijing's subway system is old, so a lot of stations don't have elevators.

All I could think was: 'Legs, just keep moving, don't give up on me now!'

Walked a total of 40km in three days. It was manageable, and I definitely fell asleep fast at night.

Oh my goodness, after reading these comments, it seems if I bring my parents, we should definitely go during an off-peak period and just take taxis everywhere. We (younger folks) can barely manage it; it's definitely too much for older parents.

Older people really wouldn't be able to handle it.

Day one, and I'm already spent.

                        Haha, it's seriously exhausting.

Joined a tour group: woke up at 2 AM, left at 3 AM for the Tiananmen flag-raising, then off to the Summer Palace, and then the Old Summer Palace. The soles of my feet were on fire!
