Oh my goodness, let me tell you that on the 24th when the event ended and people were leaving, some security guards had such attitudes they were hard to endure!
- We were just waiting at an intersection near the exit for everyone to get together before walking out, when suddenly this security guard approached us, and before he could open his mouth, it was already all insults. The way he acted, ugh!
- It truly baffled me! We weren't intentionally blocking the path. We would've listened if he had just said "You can’t stay here too long. Please leave quickly," instead of that rough attitude.
- Is it really so difficult to talk politely, to explain patiently? Why act in such a manner?
- I just want to ask, doesn’t the tourism administration of Hangzhou (the official body that takes charge of city image and tourist experience) manage these kinds of things? Truly, they just act #too much out of line. I’m so angry, it’s like #I want to fight.
️ Heads Up! In some instances, for large-scale events conclusion or where there is a crowded area, you might encounter staff with an unfriendly attitude (like security guards).
- Cultural Insight: In China, especially in large gatherings where fast evacuation is necessary, security staff may manage people using forceful voices that sound even harsh at first glance; this could be different from what you are used to in your own culture. It's mainly because they need to ensure everyone's safety and order.
- In the exit or pathways, if you are only staying briefly for others, you may still be asked to leave quickly, as was my experience.
How to avoid such unpleasant situations:
- When large events conclude, try to leave with the crowd orderly and quickly, do not stay too long at pivotal exits and intersections.
- If it's really necessary to wait elsewhere, move away from crowded areas so as to not obstruct.
- Should you encounter staff with poor attitudes, don't let it upset you, try not to argue. Just cooperate, quickly leave the scene. Joy is most important during travels, let's take the best of what travel has to offer.
