I've been in Hangzhou for four years. I went from being a really enthusiastic person to feeling more and more indifferent and lonely.

Many people living and trying to get by in Hangzhou are highly intelligent and emotionally savvy, but they all share one thing in common: they're extremely, and I mean sophisticatedly, self-serving!

I've been here a week and I'm just settling in. The service is quite good, but it's so annoying when I'm cycling and people are constantly ringing their bells 🛎️ right behind me. It feels like everyone's in such a rush.

Anyone want to hang out? Can't find a job anyway, so...

Hahaha, same! I didn't listen to advice and rushed over here almost two months ago. My family really wants me to go back, and I'm running low on cash, but it feels so shameful to go back now.

But I actually find the city itself quite comfortable. Hangzhou is great in every other way; it's just that I can't find a suitable job here.

                You should just go back.

First off, with a regular job in Hangzhou, you'll never be able to afford a home. It's just a waste of your youth. If you can't even settle down properly, how can you expect to work happily and build a career?

Any jobs available in Shangcheng District, near Line 4?

I'm wondering if I should move my wife and child from Dalian to Hangzhou for a job. The salary is over 430,000 RMB pre-tax, with an additional government subsidy of 24,000 RMB a year, so roughly 460,000 RMB in total annually. I'm just not sure if we can manage to live in Hangzhou on that.

I suggest you first bring your family to Hangzhou for a visit, stay for a bit to see if you all adapt well, and then decide. If you have children, you'll also need to factor in education.
