Not at all! As a local, I think it's actually quite fun. The only downside is that things inside are expensive, so it's wise to bring your own power bank, water, raincoats, and snacks.

You probably would have had a better experience if you'd come a year or two earlier. Now, Happy World has even dismantled its motorcycle rollercoaster, the U-shaped ride isn't operating, and the most thrilling 'Rocket' coaster has been closed for a year and a half – such a pity. But to be fair, Chimelong's U-shaped ride is more thrilling than the one at Hong Kong Disneyland because it spins, which really throws you around – haha!

Honestly, this place is primarily for parents with young children. Little kids can't handle the big amusement park rides, and they watch fewer cartoons to protect their eyesight, so places like Disneyland and Universal Studios don't hold much meaning for them. Looking at animals is one of the main things they can do, which also helps with their visual development (like building a 'farsightedness reserve'). It's also something they can easily understand. So, if you don't have kids, there's really no point in coming. If I weren't bringing my child, I wouldn't visit either.

I had originally planned to visit Disneyland and Universal Studios. I wanted to go myself, and also wanted my little girl to watch the cartoons and experience the atmosphere. But I found she wasn't very interested. However, when I suggested we go see animals that aren't kept in small cages, she got super excited... The struggles of being a parent, sigh.

I just went to Universal Beijing last month. Will I be disappointed going to Guangzhou Chimelong now? To be honest, apart from the Decepticoaster, there wasn't much else thrilling at Universal Beijing, but the immersive experience was top-notch. I wonder if Guangzhou Chimelong can offer some thrills.

I think Universal and Disneyland mainly focus on the immersive experience – they're theme parks with huge IPs, so the atmosphere is undeniably great. It's like, you know Disneyland won't have super thrilling rides, but you still want to visit the four international ones. And their maintenance and upkeep are truly excellent. Places like Hong Kong Disneyland and Universal Studios Singapore look the same as they did over a decade ago, no sense of being run-down... Guangzhou Chimelong can't compare in that regard. Without that immersion and atmosphere, you can only hope for thrills. It varies from person to person; I found it just okay.

True. If you spend a lot of money and don't get the experience you expected, you're bound to be a bit disappointed. I only spent 425 RMB for two people, and it was covered by my company, so I don't really care, haha. Anyway, I wouldn't go on my own dime; I just went to check it off the list.

Money isn't the main issue; it's just a rather ordinary amusement park. If you're traveling a long way to get here, it feels quite unnecessary.

Is anyone going on the fourth day of Chinese New Year? Worried it'll be super crowded.

I'm planning to go to Chimelong and I'm worried about the crowds too. We've been to Happy Valley frequently this year, and Happy World seems similar to Happy Valley. Is it worth going? If we skip Happy World, then there's only the Safari Park and the Birds Paradise left. Is it still worth going to Chimelong then?

Don't have high expectations. If your kids are quite young, it's fine to go... I think the Safari Park is pretty good if you take your time and look around slowly. Although I've seen many say it's not as good as your Daxing Wildlife Park (Beijing), if you go when it's not crowded, I think it's still decent. You can check out my other post about Chimelong Safari Park.

So, would a two-day, one-night trip for the Safari Park and the Grand Circus show be enough?

One full day for the Safari Park, and then the Grand Circus show in the evening – one day should be enough.
