Oh wow, when it comes to Shanghai, the city truly evokes love and a touch of "fear" in people!

    • Its bustling vibrancy is mind-blowing!
      • (Tip: As one of China's largest cities, you'll surely be able to experience the urban chaos and vitality firsthand!)
    • Its inclusiveness is unmatched!
      • (Interesting fact: It's like a melting pot where all sorts of people have come to pursue their dreams and live their lives. Hence, the diverse culture.)
    • The hustle and bustle of people on the streets leaves you in awe at their sheer numbers!
      • Caution note: Expect extremely crowded areas during peak tourist season or at popular sights.
        • What to do then? Travel during the off-season or buy tickets online in advance to avoid waiting in lines for long periods.
    • But at the same time, it’s surprisingly fair towards us ordinary folks.
      • (My take: As long as you're willing to put in the effort, you have every opportunity to leave a mark here.)
    • Yet, I absolutely adore this "scary" Shanghai!
    • Everyone is running around at a fast pace, all for a better life.

This background is so dreamy, it makes me wonder if the picture is even real.

The first one looks decent, but it's definitely been touched up a bit. When I went before, sometimes you could get good shots if the weather was nice.

Shanghai is my favorite city. Yet, it's a city where it's hard to find love.

Still like it even if you can't find love there? Are you a masochist or something? [ErR]

Since moving to Shanghai, I haven't had a single day of real relaxation. There are too many talented people, and what's scarier is that those more talented than you are also working even harder.

Stay too long, and it's hard to leave, just like a fish can't leave water.

Shanghai has plenty of people without high academic qualifications. It really depends on what kind of work you're looking for.

I once read a saying: because people in this city are relatively affluent, they have the spare energy to be kind. My phrasing might be a bit off, but the gist is that when life is going well for you, you have more capacity to be kind to others.

I feel there's an issue with major Chinese cities (or perhaps it's an issue): the roads are too wide, buildings are massive, and there are few ground-floor shops, so cohesive street-level commercial zones don't really form. However, places like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, and New York (though I haven't been to NY) do have these, to some extent. If you disagree or think our cities are better, well, you're right then.

I've been to Hong Kong, Tokyo, and New York, and actually, Shanghai is quite similar. While many people poke fun at 'Citywalks' in Shanghai, it's precisely the high density of ground-floor businesses and commercial areas that make them possible. Beijing, on the other hand, struggles with this as things are much more spread out.
