Most people who've visited feel the same way you do. However, it's quite surprising to hear Nanjing described as messy and rundown while Changsha is clean and tidy.

Back in 2016, Changsha was in such a sorry state it was hard to look at. Secondhand smoke was everywhere, and hotel bedsheets were disgustingly dirty.

Changsha gets an 8/10. Huangxing Road at night is incredibly lively. It's a really great big city with tons of delicious food and a vibrant commercial scene. Prices are a bit on the high side, but the city is clean and well-kept.

          Changsha? Clean and tidy?

Shanghai, 8/10. It definitely has the feel of a top-tier international city – China's most bustling global metropolis.

Nanjing gets a 6/10. Even though it's also a provincial capital in the Jiangnan region, there's a huge gap compared to Hangzhou. It felt dirty and disorganized. Wages are lower than Hangzhou, but a lot of things cost about the same. The general demeanor of the people was just average.

Changsha 8/10, Guiyang 3/10? And you call that 'objective'? That's hilarious!

Hefei, 8/10. Hands down, the big city with the most handsome guys! It's a very down-to-earth place with reasonable prices and a great sense of daily life. Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street is still bustling even at midnight. The only downside is that it's not a highly developed city, and its cleanliness could be better.

Guiyang deserves at least a 4/10; 3 is way too low.

Shenyang, 0/10. (And I'm from Shenyang.)

Are you sure you're not just rating these cities based on their GDP?
